Statement of Faith

Christ Community Church of Plainfield

The members of Christ Community Church of Plainfield wholeheartedly affirm the following Statement of Faith:

• We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, accurate and reliable in every way, and the final authority for Christian faith and life.
   

• We believe there is one true God existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This God created, cares for, and exercises control over all things in the universe.
   

• We believe that all of humanity fell into a sinful state as a result of the sin of our first parents, Adam and Eve.
   

• We believe that God’s Son, Jesus Christ, died and rose again to bear all of humanity’s sins and to make available to everyone a reconciled relationship to God that lasts for eternity. Jesus was uniquely able to accomplish this because He is completely God and completely man.
   

• We believe that reconciliation to God occurs when He works in our lives by the Holy Spirit, causing us to ask for forgiveness of sins and to surrender our lives to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. This process, called salvation, is entirely a work of God’s grace.
   

• We believe that obedient Christian living is learned and practiced, not to gain standing with God, but to express life-long gratitude for grace received.
   

• We believe that The Apostles’ Creed accurately communicates the fundamental teachings of the Christian faith, and that The Nicene Creed, The Athanasian Creed, The Heidelberg Catechism, The Belgic Confession, and The Canons of Dort expand our understanding of the Christian faith.
